We are here

On 19 February 2015 we finally arrived in Bonnie Doon, just two weeks behind schedule! It was an amazing feeling to finally be here and to be able to focus on setting up our new farm.

It was also amazing to leave our personal Block Hell behind. In the last couple of weeks in Wyoming we managed to achieve an astonishing amount of work including (but not limited to):

– Undercoat and two finish coats on three bedrooms, two bathrooms, laundry, entrance lounge,  hall and (don’t forget) all the skirting boards and architraves

– External plaster, texture undercoat and two finish coats on all downstairs external walls

– Complete tiling of the upstairs bathroom and do all of the downstairs bathroom, entrance area and hall.

– Strip out and re-build downstairs bathroom including new vanity, toilet, shower, tiling etc. Andy achieved this in just one week, in between other jobs!

– Wood stain front and back balcony, amazing wooden staircase, beautiful built-in sideboard and front door

– Built retaining wall along side of house, laid drainage piping, filled area with fill and top soil and planted out

– Yet more (bloody) mulching and weed matting of the entire front yard and side gardens. I hope the new owners appreciate all my weed matting and enjoy the very low maintenance garden we have created.

– Cleaned all windows (internal and external), cleaned all internal spaces and swept and tidied all external spaces

– Packed our container with all our worldly goods and coordinated our interstate move including arranging temporary accommodation in Bonnie Doon and pre-school for Finnigan (our son).

Huge thanks to my Mum and Dad who helped out. Dad was on external painting (mostly) and chipped in with other jobs. Mum did an amazing job cleaning (with her little helper, Finnigan). Thanks also to our neighbours Moana, Michael and Betty for your support and offers of cold drinks – it meant a lot!

Most of all, I want to thank Andy. You achieved something truly amazing! You battled and haggled with a house that fought you every step of the way. In the end, you won! The house is a testimony to your commitment to our family and dedication to secure a better future for us. Thanks, we love you.
